8. Real Food is Not Elitist- This is a very important message to get across, and thankfully Eric Schlosser (Fast Food Nation) does an excellent job.

For those of you in the New York area, come and check out my FREE talk on gluten free living, Saturday May14th at the New Understanding street fair in Brooklyn. Here is the full line-up. I will also be giving a talk to parents May 21st at the Brooklyn Junior Leagues Kid’s in the Kitchen event.

Great links Sho Shanna. My daughter in law must eat gluten free so I emailed her the link to your site. She’ll love it, especially the one on deserts fit for a queen! Good nutritional info is always appreciated. And, congrats for your contributions to Foodista.com!

I have been wheat-free for quite a while now and gluten-free from 15+ months. Think the idea of Wheatless Wednesday is really delightful, but given the place wheat has in the cultures of the world and people’s belief systems, I don’t see it coming any time soon. Will check out your protein for breakfast link; have always been big on breakfast protein (and I don’t eat eggs, either!)

Thankfully, people are a lot more aware of dietary choices now, so it’s not so strange to choose gluten-free living. Congrats on being part of foodista.com.

Hi Sho – While I don’t eat gluten-free, I probably should. Fresh Brothers, the restaurant that I own, has a gluten-free menu. Creating it, and finding a safe service program through the NFCA was a passion project for me. I love feeding people who have allergies or Celiac safely. I like the idea of wheatless Wednesdays for me. I am thinking about investigating the Paleo diet… thoughts?

Lots to choose from here! Since I’m wheat-free and mostly dairy and sugar-free, I’m right on track with you. For the last six weeks, I have been eating raw and “protein for breakfast” has been one of my challenges. I do better with a big blast of it at the start of the day. So I’m adding spirulina to my morning regime along with my green smoothie. But I actually do love eating mostly raw–and love the benefits I’m starting to experience too.

I’ve been gluten and dairy free for about 15 months since working with a nutritionist. I always laugh when people ask me what I eat like that’s all there is to eat in the world – bread and cheese! :-) I have a very protein rich shake for breakfast most days and eat protein every 3 to 3 1/2 hours. It has really helped in a lot of ways. Keep educating!

On the most part I am dairy and gluten free. On occasion like yesterday I may have something that is not, but I totally felt it afterwards. It’s always a nice kick in the butt the feeling afterwards to remind me why I stay away from the dairy and gluten. LOL! Before I do what I do today, I was a health coach and I know how important it is to be aware of how certain foods react within your own body. Today my health coaching skills is now just a tool under my belt to help my clients. It’s wonderful to see you spreading your knowledge to the world. Thanks for sharing all these great articles.

I eat everything! Probably shouldn’t. As I get older it’s getting harder to keep and get the belly fat off so I shall investigate some of your links. Thinking of starting to move towards a raw food diet though, just don’t think my family will move with me.
    Thanks for this.

Hi Sho Shanna, Congratulations on becoming a contributing editor, and thanks for these interesting links. Lots of information going around these days about low-carb diets touch many of the same bases, emphasizing different details. I’ll keep reading your blog to get some clarification, because most everything I read presents assertions and advice, without first presenting any evidence to support the conclusions. Keep it up.

Congrats on your contributing editor gig! I love finding gluten-free resources as my house is full of “food complications.” My husband has celiac disease, I’m sensitive to wheat and cow dairy, and my daughter has now decided to be Vegetarian (formerly a HUGE carnivore.) I find it amazing how many people I run into who must eat gluten-free (and that’s not counting the ones who are choosing to.)

This is a new concept to me. i eat very little during the day but tend to eat less healthy stuff while my husband eats very healthily. unfortunately, i can’t seem to get to “Like” the foods he eats.I am working on it. i don’t think he eats either gluten or wheat.I will certainly take a look at some of your suggestions, thanks for enlightening me

This is a great resource for me, thanks so much for posting all the links! I have battled migraines since I was four years old, and only recently confirmed that I am allergic to wheat. Cut out wheat=almost no migraines for me. So, of course I love the idea of Wheatless Wednesday!

I am on the bandwagon of eating breakfast, but getting protein that isn’t porcine has been tough. Thanks for the resource for THAT too!
